Since then, America’s immigration policy and the laws that govern it, have varied and shifted over time. Discuss some of these shifts. Include answers to the following questions: How did the American public and the government view immigrants/immigration in the time period you are discussing? Explain or provide an example. What factors contributed to how immigrants were viewed and treated in the U.S. during the time you are discussing? Explain. As part of your Paper include 3 immigration laws. For each law, explain what it was/what it did or does, the group or groups that it affected and how. Are the laws in place today? If so explain, if not explain the change. (You can discuss U.S. immigration policy in regards to voluntary immigration, refugees, and, or asylum seekers).
- Compare and contrast the Irish Immigrant/Irish American Experience to the Italian Immigrant/Italian American Experience. As part of your Paper include the answers to the following questions: What were some of the push factors for immigration for each group-list and explain at least 1. What were some of the pull factors- list and explain at least 1 for each group. How were the members of each group treated in the U.S. when they began arriving in large numbers? Include specifics. What factor/factors led/contributed to this? Did the situation/treatment change with time? In what way? List and explain 2 similarities and 1 difference in the (immigrant and post-immigration) experiences of these two groups in the U.S..
