For Journal 4, please answer/discuss all 5 questions below (in bold) for two academic journals that you found for your draft research proposal:
Questions:
1. What is the main argument of the text?
2. What evidence do the author(s) use to support the argument(s)?
3. Are you convinced by the argument(s)? Why (not)? Explain.
4. Describe one piece of information that attracted your attention and explain why.
5. Cite the article in APA style and provide the link to the article.
The minimum length of each journal is one full page; the maximum length is 2 pages. One full page consists of about 23 lines with double line spacing on US letter size, not including the question. Points are taken off if the length is less than the required minimum.
Never copy and paste from existing sources, always write your own original text.
Use Times Roman, 12 (or similar);
Double line spacing;
Standard margins (1 inch on top and bottom, 1.25 inches on left and right side);
Use a separate cover page which includes your name, the course, the assignment number. Do not put this info on any other page but the cover page.
Upload all assignments as ONE document to Turnitin on Blackboard in a format that Turnitin accepts.
From the Syllabus (pages 8-10):
The thought behind the assignments is to test your ability to show an understanding of the course material IN YOUR OWN WORDS. For these assignments, make sure that at least 90% of your answers consist of your words and your analysis. Thus, NO excessive quoting and NO excessive paraphrasing. When you think a short citation from a text could strengthen your analysis, it is important to be accurate with the citation. In order to prevent plagiarism, whenever you use a theory, an idea, or data in general (including from graphs and tables) that are not yours, you need to give the correct source of your writings.
An example of a citation in text (APA style):
Thrall (2000) writes that “television news was stuck with showing maps, graphic illustrations, and their own correspondents reporting from various locations far from the battlefield” (106).
