Ewan McGaughey’s Article “The government’s anti strike bill violates international law” is an example of the formation of political policy. In this article it explains the policy they are looking to push forward into law. ” The Sunak government’s Strikes Bill passed its second reading in Parliament on Monday 16 January. The proposed legislation effectively allows Business Secretary Grant Shapps to write “minimum service regulations” of an unknown kind to force nurses, firefighters, teachers, rail and border staff to work.” Ewan McGaughey. This article demonstrates formation in policy because they have not passed the law yet but are in the process of passing this bill. During this phase of the process it allows people make changes(form) the policy into a law that works and represents the view of the people.
This bill has been read to the government board and the public for review. This step is important to the formation of policy because people must have the ability to vote on such a matter. If this bill is passed it could then be pushed to the next step which would be the adoption phase. After a policy is passed they will have to take the steps to enforce the new policy. Overall, I believe this shows the formation process of policy making.
