Watch the Ted Talk at the following link: “How to raise kids who can overcome anxiety.” This talk is about anxiety in childhood and the role of caregivers. As you watch, consider the perspective of the psychologist, Dr. Albano, in approaching and treating childhood anxiety. Once you have finished watching the Ted Talk, address the prompts below. Use APA formatting for in-text references and list full references at the end of your response.
- Pick one childhood anxiety disorder of the anxiety disorders discussed in class and in your text, and briefly describe and provide an example of what it would look like (e.g., a make up a case study). You will use this example as you prepare your responses.
- Give a brief narrative and description of your child case study
- Describe the fictional child for your case study. Include details such as a name, age, gender, and life circumstances. In other words, you are creating a hypothetical “client” for the purposes of this assignment, so provide some context that will support your diagnosis.
- What is their anxiety disorder?
- Describe in 2-3 sentences how the child meets the criteria for that diagnosis (support using DSM-5 criteria found in your textbook or in the DSM-5).
- Describe the potential negative consequences and problems the child may have as a result of not treating this anxiety disorder (this is broad, but could include consequences related to academic functioning, social functioning, health, later development, etc.).
- How would you treat this disorder? What type of therapy would you recommend and with whom (i.e., child alone, family, parents, or a combination of these).
- Provide your own reflections to the Ted Talk
- What was surprising to you to learn about in the Ted Talk and why?
- What do you think about Dr. Albano’s perspective regarding anxiety and her opinions regarding theory and treatment? Do you agree? If so, why? If not, why not?
Submit your reply (in at least 500 words) here and be sure to include APA style in-text citations and references. Your response should include a clear answer to the questions with supporting evidence as to why you feel the way you do. Show that you can think critically on the topic by integrating your own thoughts, analysis, or experiences. Your response should be in paragraph form (not in bullet point format)
please focus on answering every bullet point, following APA 7th edition format, and using Psychopathology: An Integrative Approach (9th Edition), David H. Barlow, V. Mark Durand, and Stefan G. Hofmann, Cengage Learning. and the linked ted talk as cited sources. Low matching score please!
