- Using the resources discussed in class, locate two peer-reviewed empirical and quantitative published journal articles about women in a profession of your choice (from assignment 1). **You can search UA library or Google Scholar.
- Read, interpret, compare, and contrast findings/arguments in the articles.
- Determine which disciplinary perspectives and explanations we learned in class best align with each article’s findings/arguments. For example, one article may best support an economic explanation, such as women’s lower level of training, whereas another article may best support a psychological explanation, such as women’s work preferences or organizational commitment.
- Which article do you think provides the most valid and comprehensive explanation for why there are so few women in the professions? Which is more persuasive
- Apply those perspectives to explain the numerical representation of women in the profession you chose for Assignment 1. Do the explanations also fit those data? What do these studies add to the numerical patterns and trends you identified in
Assignment 1?
