In the previous section of this activity, various studies were presented. Each was backed by data, yet some of the evidence and conclusions were contradictory. While some data suggest that marine protected areas can restore the health of aquatic systems, other studies indicate that it is not possible to guarantee sustainable harvest of resources. Similarly, while aquaculture can be seen as an inefficient use of resources, it is allowing seafood production to increase while diverting fishing pressure from wild stocks.
