You may recall our past conversations that Disney is the grandfather of children and adolescent programming.
However, recent ratings show that the Disney channel is losing these young viewers to PBS. Therefore, as media
majors, it’s time for you to explore this issue. You will do the following:
a) Watch both Disney and PBS TV shows (NOTE: It’s best to watch PBS shows in the mornings to about 7 PM)
b) As you watch the shows, take notes on what you like about the shows on PBS as oppose to Disney
(Note: Don’t forget to identify the TV shows you write about)
c) If you watched shows on the Disney channel growing up or with a young child 10+ years ago, what do you
remember about the shows then compared to the ones that are shown today?
