As mentioned earlier, reflection posts are credit/no credit assignments* that are more about personal perspectives and opinion.
I’m sure many of you have been in a situation in which someone referred to something they hold dear as their ‘religion’ “Oh man, football isn’t a sport, it’s my religion!” something like that. What do people mean when they say things like that? What do they mean?
What I want you to reflect on for this post is this; When you look at the world around you, some people treat things ‘like a religion’ when they aren’t. What makes something a religion, both in the literal and the figurative way?
I’m looking for reflection and insight, please don’t post something simplistic like “Religions are religions because they are, and things that aren’t aren’t because they’re not.”..
*For the time being these are credit/no credit, if I feel that students aren’t treating these seriously I can always make them for direct grades (and maybe even require multiple responses and all that :P)
