The paper needs to be analytic-descriptive, meaning you have to analyze the information that you’re presenting
and then reflect on the impact it has on society. I chose this topic because I believe latino/a immigrants are
undervalued in the economy, or at least in right-wing media portraying them as freeriders. If you don’t think there
is substantial information on this topic, or if there isn’t enough to write 6 pages about, you can choose a different one. One topic that might have more evidence is the modern effect of all CIA interventions in Latin American countries and how it spilled over into the US, such as in Chile with the Chicago Boys and the Pinochet dictatorship, or the overthrow of Jacobo Arbenz in Guatemala, or both to emphasize the power the CIA had abroad. One important requirement to note is that all these topics must be related to hispanic people in the US. You can’t solely write about how the Pinochet dictatorship affected the Chilean people but must include how it affected Chilean people in the United States. If you decide to go this route you could probably mention how US immigration increased during/after these events or time periods.
——>>>> ALSO: The paper should be in Spanish. I would really prefer it if you could do this, but if unable I will translate it myself
——Sources must be academic AND preferably in spanish (if you can find any) !!!
I’ve browsed some sources that might be helpful if you decide to go with the importance of latinx businesses:
