- Choose one of the documents from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) website Resources on Violence Preventio Links to an external site.. You might want to look at a few of the to be sure to pick one you are interested in. Select any of those listed that relate to sexual violence, i.e., Intimate Partner Violence Prevention or Sexual Violence Prevention.
- Read it thoroughly, learn what it has to teach us.
- Consider how our class materials relate to the document contents. Identify any connections between what we’ve been learning and what they are saying in the document. Be specific in identifying relevant class materials – which reading, video, theory, concept?
- Write up your assessment, following this outline and using the headings:
- Introduction: Name the document, briefly discuss why you chose it.
- Discussion: What can we learn from this document? If you had only one minute to share what you learned, what would you say? How does the document relate to what we’re learning (be specific)?
- Conclusions: What can we do better, how could this document and information be improved? How can we effectively deal with the situation?
For those of you who want a page estimate (it really depends on your style of writing) – follow the outline, the Discussion section should be the largest, and the total page count (with no fancy formatting) should be 2-4 pages. Be sure to check the rubric for guidance.
