-This course will explore the movement of people, goods and ideas in South Asia and beyond
through the lens of labour.

This class will be on the time period from 19th century to the present.
Two major themes of focus will
be developments of this period, specifically — the growth of capitalism and colonial expansion and its aftermath.

There will be an encouragement for Historians to think about the region of South Asia in a global and
transnational way, including the flows of labour, commodities and ideas between
South Asia and Canada.
