Strategic Use of Information Technology and Information Systems in the Cell Phone Industry

You will investigate how the CELL PHONE industry uses
information technology (IT) and information systems (IS).  The
purpose of this assignment is to research and gain an understanding of IT/IS;
define and demonstrate how IT/IS are used strategically in organizations within
your industry. Inclusion of course concepts such as Porter’s Five Forces (Ch
2), the value chain (Ch 2), and industry use of enterprise resources planning
systems (Ch 10), supply chain management systems (Ch 11), decision support
systems (Ch 12), e- and m-commerce (Ch 7), and specific industry use of
hardware/software (Chaps 6, 10, 11, and 12) are required areas of
research.  Further, you will speculate (based on current evidence) on
the future strategic uses of IT/IS during the next five years for this
industry. the final paper with the notable preliminary research completed
to date.  At a minimum, this APA style paper will contain an introduction
describing the industry, its use of IT/IS, and your approach for this
project.  This draft paper will also offer an outline of the required
areas and contain an initial reference list of at least 5-6
sources.
