Attached is the brochure that is the outline for what NEEDS to be covered in the paper. Paraphrasing is encouraged.
The paper needs to cover these 3 areas overall.
1). explain HOW students are more willing to participate in collaboration to solve a collective goal in STEAM classes but they aren′t willing to work on a singular project together in Art courses
2)WHY collaboration is important in Art classes
3)HOW the teacher can encourage students′ willingness to participate in collaborative pieces rather than only working on individual art.
SIGNIFICANCE TO ART EDUCATION:
LEARNING SKILL DEVELOPMENT-Teaching students how to collaborate is something that will benefit them beyond the classroom for their entire lives. An installation or sculpture project is the perfect opportunity to showcase the skill of collaboration. When students reflect on and assess their collaborative work, respect for and listening to others are important criteria. Becoming active listeners sharpens students in their role as audience members and viewers of art.
IDEA GENERATION
Students helping a peer create reinforces one’s own artistic knowledge and skills. Working with peers leads to exciting and interesting artwork individuals might not ever land on. More hands and brains at work mean greater ideas generated
COOPERATION.
Collaborating helps students develop patience and empathy for their peers. Having to work with others at a pace that might be faster or slower than what they are normally accustomed to builds flexibility and open-mindedness.
PRACTICALITY
Sometimes you just don’t have the space to store twenty to thirty large sculpture projects in your room. Having students work together reduces the number of projects for which you have to find storage for & the amount of materials used.
