Systems of Psychology Timeline

Learning Goal: I’m working on a psychology project and need a sample draft to help me learn.

For the core assessment, you will select a modern psychological movement, theory, theorist, or topic (Unit 5) and create a timeline that shows the evolution of your target topic. Your timeline must be more than a chronological listing of events, it must show how each event influenced and shaped the next event in the timeline. Your timeline should not be a general timeline of the history of psychology; you need to focus on the evolution of a specific theory, movement, concept, or topic. In addition to the influences in the field, you must also show how other aspects of the zeitgeist shaped this aspect of psychology. Finally, you should highlight how the target topic impacted society (i.e., education, family, religion, politics, economics, etc.).

Requirements:

  • ocus on a modern theory, concept, topic, or movement (it should not be a general timeline of the history of psychology)
  • trace the evolution through the history of psychology to show how we arrived at your target topic; this requires you to show the connection between each psychological event in the timeline
  • span a minimum of 300 years
  • include 20 events specific to the field of psychology
  • include 20 events that highlights the influence of the zeitgeist
