The beginning of artificial intelligence

Learning Goal: I’m working on a accounting project and need support to help me learn.

In the first half of the twentieth century, science fiction films introduced to the world the concept of intelligent robots.

It started with the “heartless” tin man from The Wizard of Oz and continued with the humanoid robot that impersonated Maria in Metropolis.

By the fifties, we had a generation of mathematicians and philosophers who were well aware of the concept of artificial intelligence.

One such scientist, Alan Turing, was a young British multicultural man who explored the mathematical potential of artificial intelligence.

Turing suggested that humans use available information and causes to solve problems and make decisions, so why can’t machines do the same?

This was the logical framework for his 1950 scientific paper (Computing Machines and Intelligence) in which he discussed how to build intelligent machines and how to test their intelligence.

What is artificial intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to machines simulating the intelligence of humans in the ability to think and act.

This term can also be applied to any machine that displays similar characteristics of the human mind such as learning and problem solving.

Pros of Artificial Intelligence

Reducing human error, computers don’t make human mistakes if programmed correctly.

Taking risks instead of humans, like going to Mars, defusing bombs.

Robots can work all the time around the clock without feeling as tired and exhausted as humans.

Assistance with repetitive jobs.

Make decisions faster and more accurately.

Artificial intelligence powers many inventions in almost every field which will help humans solve the majority of complex problems.

And many other features of artificial intelligence that have made it indispensable in our daily lives.

Cons of AI

High cost due to the need to update software to meet the latest requirements.

AI makes humans lazy by automating its applications for the majority of work.

Human intervention has become less which will lead to a major problem in employment standards leading to unemployment.

Machines cannot develop a relationship with humans that is an essential trait when it comes to team management.

Machines can only perform those tasks they are designed to do, and tend to crash or deliver irrelevant output when requesting data that is not stored in them.

Artificial Intelligence Applications

We find that the practical applications are endless.

The technology can be applied to many different sectors and industries, such as its use in healthcare, the calculation of the doses of various drugs and treatments for patients and for surgical procedures in the operating room.

Other examples of artificial intelligence for machines include self-driving cars and chess-playing computers.

Each of these machines must weigh the consequences of any action they take, as each action will affect the final result of winning the game.

For self-driving cars, the computer system must calculate all external data to work in a way that prevents a collision.

Artificial intelligence also has applications in financial accounts, as it is used to detect and report thefts in banks.

The Future of Artificial Intelligence

You may be wondering what the future holds?

In fact, AI applications are already underway.

When we usually think of a robot for the first time, we think it’s just a remotely operated machine by a human.

But what if the robot had a biological brain made up of brain cells, and maybe even human neurons? Neurons grown under laboratory conditions on a set of non-invasive electrodes offer an attractive alternative with which a new type of robot control can be realized.

In the near future, we will see thinking robots with brains not much different from those found in humans.

This development will raise many social …
