Referring to Benjamin’s “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction,” fascism was able to recuperate technology to use it for propaganda because of the fascination for an “augmented” humanity, speed, strength, etc. aestheticized through art, but talking to the human dream of becoming “super-humans”. More globally, this essay should be about perspectives embracing the possibility offered by science to “improve” and “augment” humanity and to show how, and why, at a particular point of European history, this perspective aligned with fascist ideology.
