- Make sure all of your citations are put in after you cite reference material. If it is paraphrased, cite it. If it is a direct quotation, cite it. Over-citing is ALWAYS better than under-citing.
- Make sure a Works Cited list follows the last paragraph of the paper. It does not go on a separate page.
- Proof read your first draft paper. Read it forwards, then read it word-for-word backwards to find spellings, typos, ect.
- Work with the Plagiarism Check/Professor Review to proof the paper or give you feedback, if you have time. Remember, I need 48 hours notice and you need to email me when you upload the assignment to let me know you want me to review it as many students do that step repeatedly to refine his/her/their work.
- Work with a friend, family member, or neighbor to have another set of eyes on the paper. Ask them to tell you if something does not make sense.
- Make sure that you used the headers on the template: your name, Professor Moks-Unger, ENC 1101, the date. Use the header on the right side with the last name and page number.
- Double space the document.
- Indent each paragraph. Use the template on Office 365.
- Check to make sure you do not end any sentence with a preposition, because….
- Weed out all of the contractions. Write out do not, cannot, will not, should not, ect.
- Look at the subject/verb and pronoun agreements and make sure they match correct.
- Check your diction (word choice). For example, write out the whole word “tattoo” and not “tats”
- Avoid symbols and acronyms such as & for and and IDK for I do not know, ect.
- Make sure that the paper is the required 4 full to 6 full pages BEFORE adding the Works Cited page.
- This assignment will get an automatic zero if you use AI to generate a research paper instead of doing the work yourself.
The Turnitin filter is turned off for this assignment, but will be added for the final draft.
