There are three major parts to this assignment: 1) works cited page2) a petition arguing that your topic/issue requires immediate attention 3) evidence backed up by research
1. Your works cited page must contain at least 7 scholarly sources with correct MLA citation
2. You will then take your research and draft a 9 page research paper that details all of the important aspects of your topic, including history, impact, current situation, who’s involved, etc. In this paper you will include at least 7 scholarly sources to support your reasoning.
3. Within your research paper, you must petition that your issue requires immediate attention in a clear manner.
***My petition is that improving gut health is the most important variable for increasing the quality of one’s life.
A successful research paper will accomplish the following:
• Produce a petition which skillfully uses the rhetorical appeals logos, ethos, and pathos
• Places your own argument in a place of societal and cultural relevance
• Points out why the current (or impending) situation is negative and requires a remedy. ***My perspective is that many people are suffering mentally and physically and requires a remedy.
• Introduces a feasible alternative to the current situation that is backed up by solid research. ***The solution is to improve one’s gut health.
• Provides a solid background with good, credible sources in the research paper
• Uses sources by correctly paraphrasing, summarizing and directly quoting in MLA style
• Considers the other side of the issue and refutes those points
• Includes a Works Cited
Formatting Guidelines: Papers must be typed, double-spaced, with page numbers and an ORIGINAL title. You should use 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1” margins, and a header that includes page numbers and your last name. You will lose points if your papers are not formatted properly.
