“The Second Shift Revisited: A Comprehensive Literature Review on Gendered Division of Labor and Work-Family Balance in Dual-Earner Households”

Assignment Content

    1. Conduct a library search using a keyword search in the library databases. The library webpage can be found under ‘help and resources’ on the course landing page.
    2. Enter words from your literature review topic into the library database’s keyword search engine. Select the peer-reviewed articles tab under the keyword search box to ensure that your search returns only peer-reviewed articles.
    3. Locate at least ONE PEER-REVIEWED journal article. You can discern whether the journal is peer-reviewed based on whether the journal appears to have an editorial board or multiple editors. Books that you find in the College’s library may be considered scholarly and peer-reviewed; however, it depends on the book. Please see the instructor if you need further information about whether a resource is scholarly and peer-reviewed. Using a peer-reviewed article is crucial to conducting accurate research. The peer-review process requires a researcher to submit their work to an editorial board composed of reputable experts with valid educational credentials in the field, who fact-check the research before it is published and released to the public.
    4. Locate TWO other resources that help you to research your topic. These do not need to be scholarly and peer-reviewed, but they must add to your research on your topic.
    5. List each resource in APA or MLA style, using the references format. For this assignment, you are expected to CORRECTLY list all THREE of your references in APA or MLA style.  You can refer here to find formatting guides: Reference List: Articles in Periodicals // Purdue Writing Lab
    6. Underneath each reference, write 1-2 paragraphs summarizing the article. You should summarize how the article answers your research questions and adds to your research on your topic.

    Rubric:

9 points – correct APA formatting for references (3 points per reference – you must have three references in total)

6 points – 1-2 paragraph summary of references (2 points per reference; three references in total)
