The views found in the writings of two philosophers studied in class on an issue (1-2 pgs for each philosopher)

As stated in the Syllabus, a 3-5 page paper explaining the views found in the writings of two philosophers studied in class on an issue (1-2 pgs for each philosopher) and comparing them to each other (1-2 pages). This first paper will be on philosophers in the political philosophy section. These papers are meant to be written using only the reading provided in the course readings with no need for additional outside sources. The point is to show how well the student has understood the argument of the philosopher on the topic and to compare the arguments with another philosopher. No outside sources are needed, but if any outside sources are used that are not properly cited, the paper is plagiarized and receive a zero. Two plagiarism violations across any discipline will lead to expulsion from Prince George’s Community College.

Some examples of topics to compare from two of the readings include the state of nature, the purpose of the political state, human equality, slavery, the foundation of rights, the role of God in the human political affairs (philosophically only, not using the Bible or the Qur’an! only arguments from reason in the readings), and the purpose of law. These are not limits, but the topic must be in both readings. Please restrict yourself to one topic in two readings.
