this week’s Discussion Board will require that you first view our Theatre Viewing Assignment for this week, Things I Know to be True, both the full production and the interview with the show’s director .
This production and the company that created this show often create productions that are extremely physical. By “physical’ I mean, primarily, the way in which the actors move, and the way in which furniture is used in the play.
After you’ve viewed both videos, I’d like you to consider the physical aspects of this production. Think about specific moments in which the actors were moving – either alone, with others or with furniture in a non-realistic manner. In this Discussion Board, I’d like you to point to one or more of these specific examples of this type of movement. When did it happen, what, exactly, was happening, who and/or what was involved in the physical movement, etc. And then discuss whether you thought that this non-realistic physical movement helped to tell the story of the play or if it added an element of confusion.
