This assignment will explore the intersection of cinematic fiction and governmental reality, focusing mainly on films depicting large-scale disruptions or disasters
- Choose a film and describe a specific scene involving significant damage or destruction. Your description should be short but detailed enough to allow readers to follow along. (10 points)
- Assuming that this scene transpires in our real world, where government intervention is typically inevitable, identify THREE governmental agencies that would be directly implicated in that scene. This task may be more straightforward if the film you choose involves a superhero combating a villain or a natural disaster and its subsequent response. (10 points)
- After conducting your research, consider whether a more realistic depiction of governmental response to the events in the film would make you more or less inclined to watch such a movie. Please justify your answer. (10 points)
- It’s essential to approach this as a research assignment rather than a movie review. The focus should be on understanding the government’s role and responses in the face of disasters rather than critiquing the film itself. Therefore, limit your movie description to a single paragraph, assuming the reader is already familiar with the film and its storyline.

Additional Instructions
- Paper Format: Microsoft Word, Times New Roman, and 12-point fonts, double-spaced.
- Length: 3-4 pages excluding a “References” page; the Reference page should follow MLA style.* This also excludes any headers or other things in the paper that are not topic related.
- Ensure your paper is on topic, written clearly, concisely, and proofread thoroughly. The more grammatical and punctuation errors found in your documents, the harder it is for me to read the content in your paper, thus, resulting in a lower paper grade.
- Submission: an electronic copy of your paper must be submitted on Canvas. Upon submission, your paper will be synced with the turnitin.com software to guard against plagiarism. Your best protection against plagiarism is to completely minimize, if not eliminate, all usage of direct quotes.
- You must use at least THREE sources to support your paper. When you use them, these sources must be CITED and listed in a reference list. Citing and listing your sources in a reference list are two different things. If you do not understand this difference, reread the announcement on how to do this.
- Wikipedia and Course Hero cannot be used as sources.
- Assume that the stated due date is a hard and firm deadline. NO EXCEPTIONS! A late penalty for all papers not turned in by the stated deadline will be enforced.
