This is another discussion post that requires viewing a full episode of Black Mirror on Netflix. The episode is S3 E1, titled “Nosedive” (63 minutes). I don’t have a link to it, but you can access it via Netflix using the search tool fairly easily. As stated in the syllabus and previous announcements, if you do not have access to a Netflix account please email me for an alternative assignment.
For this discussion board, watch the assigned video above. Then, in 2-3 paragraphs, use the prompt questions below to write your post. Be sure to include 2 text citations from the assigned primary textbook readings for Michel Foucault in your post in MLA format. In order to do this, you should cite the author of the article and not the whole primary textbook as it is an anthology and different rules apply –> i.e. (Foucault, 381).

How does the world of Nosedive reflect the philosophy of Michel Foucault? What is the primary character’s relationship to technology like, and in what ways does it show that technology can be an oppressive form of power and control? In what ways is the world depicted similar to that of the developing “social credit system” in China? What are your thoughts about this?
