Each MUST include the following:

Three body paragraphs, each beginning with a topic sentence reiterating one of the thesis elements.

At least three or four specific examples in each body paragraph defining and explaining other related ideas, terms, and/or facts supporting your thesis.

A conclusion restating your thesis.

NOTE! For this exam you will have a choice to write about Chapter 6 or 7 and the questions and TIME PERIODS will differ slightly due to the amount covered in each section. 

In a well-organized five paragraph essay, evaluate and discuss the following three phases of the history of Buddhism; Pre-Modern Formative, Pre-Modern Classical, and Modern/Post-Modern. Using the aforementioned elements to organize your argument, explain the development of Buddhism as a world religion using terms and ideas from all 7 chapters of the book as your examples. Make sure to contemplate and explain the aspects of the the history of the religion you have chosen in relation to the larger argument of the textbook which discusses the bases for human religious belief. (You can use terms from any and all chapters if relevant)

For this assignment you must:

Use three categories for thesis elements from the above essay question.

Write a simple, one sentence thesis statement including the three categories you will discuss in your body paragraphs.

Write a practice topic sentence for each of your thesis topics.

Choose and then list the four terms you would like to discuss as examples in each of your body paragraphs. (Defined terms that can be found in textbook and lecture presentation)

Rewrite, restate your original thesis.

This will be the template for your exam due at the end of the week.
