Topic E:
Traditionally, it has been said that African art should be directed toward a meaningful end, and it should serve an important purpose. For this topic, go online, find a contemporary art piece from Africa, and research it to determine its meaning and purpose. You may also choose a song or literature work instead.
You will submit the following information:
Name of composition:
Photo (or link to song or literature work):
Purpose of the art:
Meaning of the art:
Other information (optional):
Note: The peer response must contain relevant content as well. Avoid repeating (even in different words) what you wrote about in your main discussion as part of the response to the classmate. Whether you agree or disagree with your peer’s discussion, add new content, new information to your peer’s post.
While you may add comments such as “I agree with you” or “Interesting findings”, that is not enough. Your reaction to a peer’s discussion must contain relevant content taken from the material learned in class, or external sources.
Citations:
If you base your main post and peer response entirely on the class textbook, you do not need to cite your source. However, if you also use other resources (books, articles), cite them using MLA or APA Format.
When you cite a sentence/paragraph, it shows that it is not your opinion but information you have acquired from a scholar or someone who has studied the subject. That validates your stance on the subject. While opinions are welcome, make facts your primary focus as you create your discussion and react to others’ responses.

Remember, there are two parts to a citation, the in-text citation and the references or works cited page at the end of the writing (or in this case, just a section at the end of your post).
