  • This week focuses on nutrition throughout the lifespan. We can’t possibly teach all the details of nutritional requirements from pregnancy and prenatal health through to older adult populations, but we will focus the students on the main nutritional themes, which include the importance of a higher fat diet for the infant through toddler years for the development of the nervous system, childhood obesity, calcium and vitamin D in adolescent years, the physiological changes in aging adults and their inability to drink enough fluids and/or have adequate nutrient intake, breastfeeding, and pregnancy weight gain.
