When cultures come into conflict, war can erupt. When identities come into conflict, war can erupt. From the war in Ukraine to the “culture wars” in School Board meetings across the country, it is clearly more important than ever that we practice the communication skills necessary to overcome conflict in our communities (both local and global communities).
Since listening is the most important communication skill, this week’s discussion begins with you copying and pasting the following link into a web browser to watch this education topic video:
First Post: State your position on the education topic from the video and why that is your position.
(Minimum 6 sentences.)
Second Post: Ask a question on the initial post of a peer aimed at understanding more deeply why they feel the way they do about the topic.
Third Post: Answer at least one question asked on your post. (If no questions have been asked in a reply on your initial post, write a reply to your own initial post with a statement sharing why you think your peers have chosen NOT to ask a question about your position on the topic. (Minimum 5 sentences.)
Fourth Post: Write a post in which you explain how your reading of others’ posts and replies has helped you understand why folks have a viewpoint different from/opposite of your own.
