The purpose of this assignment is to develop a research proposal using a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods approach. This assignment is comprised of the following five sections:
Abstract
The abstract should be a 200-word summary of your study offering a synopsis of how your research was carried out, highlights of the literature review and methods section, and the findings.
Introduction
The introduction should be a clear and concise overview of your research study including the problem statement, purpose/rationale for examining this research issue (e.g., interest in topic, participants, methodology), and research question(s).
Review of Literature
In addition to the ten peer-reviewed articles from the annotated bibliography assignment, you will include five additional articles that will further enhance your existing scholarly findings. The information from your annotated bibliography will be reformatted so that it no longer reads as an annotated list. Each journal article will have a brief description, which will include an introduction, a discussion of research results, and end with a summary. The literature review will be organized in coherent themes and presented in either a mind map or another visual framework.
Methodology/Procedures
This section requires you to describe the methods used to address your research question(s): approach; philosophical worldview; theoretical framework/perspective; positionality (how your position as the researcher may influence the study) and role of the researcher; description of the research participants, recruitment process, and ethical considerations; data collection tools; and data analysis protocols.
Discussion, Conclusions, and Future Directions
This last section should detail the significance, limitations, contributions, and implications for educational practice or further research.
As well, please include a title for your research proposal that captures the essence of your study. This assignment should follow APA format guidelines and not exceed 18 double-spaced pages; this does not include the title page, references, and applicable appendices (e.g., mind map, interview schedule, survey, questionnaire).
