what one of the poems is saying to the world about human rights or a related social issue

our response should have a short introduction, two or more body paragraphs, and a conclusion.  Divide this section up into paragraphs by starting with a short paragraph – one sentence is fine – stating the point you would like to make about the poem, two or more paragraphs proving your point by quoting the words in poem in order to explain how it supports your point, and a conclusion in which you say why your point matters (why your reader should care).  400 is the minimum, so feel free to write as much as you need to make your point.  Do your best to make an argument about what the poem means – how the poem wants us to understand something specific about the issue on which you focus, etc. rather than simply summarizing the content of the play.  Do your best on the initial draft, and then you will be able to use my feedback to revise your argument on the revision.  I will also look to see how you applied what you learned about writing in the active voice and quoting/analyzing the words from the second writing exercise, as well as from my feedback on the last discussion board. In the body, cite the quotes by line number like this: (Neruda 17-18).
