Draft:
1) Please have a 7 page (double spaced) draft of the paper ready for review by Tuesday around 3pm.
2) After the 7 page draft, please also include an outline or bullet points showing your plan for the rest of the paper.
Final Paper (a possible structure):
1) Introduction- include a statement of the research question (I have written this in the topic title- more specifically: Why is there continued violence following a peace settlement), and an overview of your argument to support this research question.
2) Discussion of your main argument or hypothesis- draw on the existing scholarly literature to explain the logic of your argument or hypothesis.
3) Background on case study of Burundi. (I have 3 pages overviewing this country, but please link this case study to the argument/ hypothesis). Analysis of these hypotheses in light of evidence from this country’s case- use evidence from this case to weigh the hypotheses against one another
4) Discussion of alternative arguments or hypotheses- Again, draw on the existing literature to explain the logic of each
alternative argument or hypothesis.
5) Conclusion
