1.Propose a topic. To address the prompt, your topic will include (a) a human rights issue 
found in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and (b) a current event related to the human rights issue. 
a. Note the human rights issue you think you’ll focus on by indicating the UDHR article and 
writing out the text of the UDHR article. To select your human rights issue, read through the

b. Identify a current event that occurred between June 2022 and the present. To select a 
current event, review news media. In choosing your current event, We recommend choosing a 
the specific event that happened on a particular day or series of days. This will make it easier to find and analyze your articles. 
Write 50 words explaining the connection between the human rights issue and the current 
event.
2.Find two news articles related to your topic 
a.List the articles in MLA Works Cited format. 
b. Write 50 words explaining why you chose each article for your topic.

3. Propose an initial research question. This will still be tentative, and you might feel like you’re  not quite ready for this yet. That’s okay. That’s why it’s initial, and it’ll give 
you a helpful place to  start from.
