You can choose an imagined audience for your public narrative. It may be that you want to be speaking to a group of people impacted by the issue or a general public . In your story of us and now, you should be speaking directly to your audience

Public Narrative Grading Rubric

STORY OF SELF (50 points)

You tell a story focused on why you are called to take action around an issue or why you care about the issue that you will call others to action around in the “story of now”. In this story, you use vivid, descriptive detail and make effort to show vs. tell. Your story of self should reveal your values (ie what’s important to you).

STORY OF US (10 points)

In your story of us, you will inspire an “us” whom you will call upon to join you in action motivated by shared values.

STORY OF NOW (30 points)

Your “story of now” describes how your community will mobilize to translate values communicated in the story of self and us into action. Your “story of now” includes these specific elements:
● The urgent challenge we face right now as a community

● A hopeful outcome that has a vivid description of what we can achieve together if we take action
● A convincing strategy – your plan for achieving this outcome (Note: this doesn’t mean you’re laying out your entire campaign strategy here, just an outline)
● A specific choice that each person in your audience can make – a call to action!
● A reminder of where we can find the courage to make that choice
